more simple pleasures

The sound of Naomi giggling at Ethan who is turning his back to her and then turning back around and yelling "boo!".

Watching Seth sit in Dada's lap and play cars on his arms and hands. Pretending that Dada's upside down cupped hand is a tunnel, with Dada's thumb acting as the gate. Dada's arms are hills, and Seth's cars encounter all kinds of adventures driving up and over Dada Freeway.

Experiencing a sensation of pride as Ethan climbs up next to a friend of ours and sits so still and properly in a little meeting of adults. Hearing the exclamation of those around us at how adorable this simple gesture is.

simple pleasures

The look on Sethie's face as he climbs into bed with me. The way he pronounces so clearly, "good morning mama" and his little giggle at the delight in scooting under the covers to lay next to mama momentarily.

Holding Naomi straight after her bath, smelling her clean hair as she hugs my neck and gives me a kiss on my cheek. (it's more of a mouth mauling, but sweet all the same)

Watching Ethan giggle as he plays horsey with Seth. Ethan is Seth's horse, and only momentarily will he be able to hold the weight of Seth on his back, but when they both tumble to the ground, they giggle, and Ethan asks Seth, "more?" and it all starts again.

two items of note

1) Naomi today took baby crawl "steps". She is just at the verge of being totally mobile. She is taking about three or four little crawl steps before she lunges onto her tummy.

2) All of us except for Seth were in the kitchen hanging out this morning. Seth was in the back room playing with blocks. Suddenly he burst into the kitchen with little block sets in hand, giving one to Ethan, one to Naomi, and declaring that they were "candles" as he left the room to get three more, one for me, one for Terry, and one for himself. He had made little pretend cakes out of blocks with a single block on the top of each cake representing the candles. Terry and I were blown away, mainly because he had spent time building the cake blocks with each of us in mind. He made exactly five cakes, one for each in our family. We all had fun with our block cakes, blowing out the candles on top. Seth has an amazing spirit. He is often so incredibly generous for a 22 month old. More than not, it appears that he is thinking of others before himself.
