my own ape

We had a blast at the zoo on my birthday. Ethan's favorite was the orangutans, I could tell because that was the only animal that within seconds he wasn't requesting "more animals". The day went really well with our gang being so young. Seth didn't seem to have a favorite animal, and I think his favorite moment was playing on a large red dirt pile. At first he accidentally slid down the side of the mound, but then discovered that this was great fun and repeated his first performance several times over. Needless to say he was covered in red dirt by time we had finished our break from animal viewing.

By the day's end we were all bushed. We did a simple dinner. My original plan was to make fruit pizza as the birthday cake, but we ended up staying at the zoo longer than I had anticipated. So for my birthday cake we had ice cream. And then on grand final day (similar to super bowl) I made fruit pizza for our football party. It turned out very yummy, I ended up adding extra fruit to my piece.

Our roses are in bloom. Several vases are filled with roses and wild flowers, ahhh, the smell of spring.

bubbles

We made our own bubble concoction that was a flop in more than one way. I redeemed us with store bought bubbles, but the little bottle went way too quick.

fishing

I've been thinking a lot about how I spend my time. I do totally want to keep posting and documenting our days and activities yet, the activities can keep me from having time to document.

We've been doing a lot of imaginary play recently. Ethan is fishing in the above photo, a little fly fishing apparently.

I love kidisms, some of Ethans have been "Mama, look I'm lawning." Meaning "Mama, look I'm mowing". He kept asking me for the glob, and saying that he wanted to do some globbing. I finally worked out that he was asking for the glue and wanted to glue stuff.

chopping

Ethan cut paper into tiny bits all day! He loved it. I love that he pokes out his tongue while he's concentrating.

Seth had free reign of the toys, and even thought he should have a turn with the camera. He's shouting at me "my turn, my turn!"

The t-shirt isn't a complete to-do list, the items missing are:

bricktown

With Ethan's help I drew a town that his trucks could go exploring in. We played together in the morning, and then in the afternoon I could hear him talking and playing like we had in the morning, only this time without me being directly involved. I love trying to use my imagination and trying to stimulate his.

cornflour painting

I've discovered that if I have one "organized" activity set out for each day, that our days run smoother. This was one of our first organized activity, painting with homemade cornflour paint. The boys had a lot of fun painting. squishing, clapping their hands together and flinging, and of course Seth trying to eat it.

I'm a bit behind in documenting our days so I might try and do a few at once.
